Primrose Hospice
The Brief
After a chance conversation at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Charity Forum, Primrose Hospice asked us to make a creative video to highlight their furniture donation service – a key driver of their fundraising efforts.
We decided to tell the story of a single chair.
The Process
The video starts with a chair, neglected in the corner of a sitting room, covered in clothes, unaware of how it can help support anything more than the several coats strewn across it. The video follows the chair as it’s collected, taken to the hospice shop and placed for sale.
The second half of the video features archive footage provided by Sarah, the Marketing and Communications Officer at Primrose Hospice. The visuals are brought together with a moving voiceover, provided by Sarah and the team.
Filming this video was slightly more complicated than regular videos, as specific shots needed to be filmed in order to make sure that the narrative flowed correctly. It sounds easy, but if a single shot was missing, or if two adjoining shots don’t match up, either with the physical motion or filming style, then the video wouldn’t work. We carefully selected the shots that we needed, and edited them into a way that makes the maximum emotional impact.
The Result
The video has been well received by everyone at Primrose Hospice, and will feature on the screens in their shops to help raise awareness of their donation service.
A huge thank you to Adam from Dandelion Video Production who recently created a fantastic video for Primrose Hospice, which demonstrates the positive effect donating a piece of furniture can have to the Hospice.
Adam filmed several different scenarios across the hospice, including some of our Day Hospice patients, all of which he handled in a professional and friendly manner, ensuring everyone felt comfortable with what was asked of them.
Thank you, Adam, from everyone here at Primrose Hospice & Family Support Centre.
